Mitch began wood working as a hobby, designing wood pieces for his wife, Sharon.
After many compliments on his work, Sharon insisted Mitch show his work at an area festival. The public was overwhelmed with the talent Mitch had.
Since his first woodworking in 1985, Mitch has developed into a fine and meticulous wood designer. Just a few of his projects would include: kitchen cabinets, shelves of all sizes, bathroom vanities, entertainment centers, jelly cupboards, open face cabinets, afghan holders, calendar holders, framed mirrors, fern stands, wooden lanterns and personalized shelving. A design that has been particularly popular is the basket weave on various pieces. The basket weave compliments the Longaberger baskets and is of great interest to basket collectors. Mitch can design or build any wood piece by looking at a picture or simply by someone giving him an idea.
Mitch's daughter, Heather also creates some small crafts. Heather is the painter, while dad does the woodworking. As Mitch's hobby grew, his son Mike thought the woodworking needed a name. Mike named the wood hobby, "Mitch's Spare Time", knowing his dad was a busy man. Mike also designed his dad's business cards. Mitch is the owner of Fetzer's Carpet and Floor Covering, in Woodsfield, Ohio. He started his business in 1983. Floor covering is his full time job, but Mitch's Spare Time is his natural talent. Mitch welcomes any orders and does keep some items in stock. He can be reached at 740-472-0520 or by email: shafetz@sbcglobal.net
