Summer Reading 2014

Programs are on Wednesdays at 1:00pm and last about an hour.

June 11 - The Bugman 1:00pm - 2:30pm*

Re-Spect-ology is the study of looking again. Join Mark Berman, The Bugman, in an impressive display of live bugs, bug videos, great stories, audience participation, memorable lessons and lots of laughs for the whole family.

June 18 - Amazing Science 1:00pm - 2:00pm

Join Lisa Schlanz in exploring the wonderful world of science. Children will enjoy a hands-on approach of amazing science experiments.

June 25 - Discover Soil with Worms! 1:00pm - 2:00pm

Belmont Soil and Water Conservation District, Kim Brewster. Join us as we learn about the science of soil through the eyes of a worm! Participants will  have the chance to "adopt-a-worm" and build their own terrariums to take home.


July 9 - Tales of Earth, Sea & Sky 1:00pm - 2:00pm

Lyn Ford is a fourth generation, nationally recognized storyteller. Children will enjoy listening to Lyn's interactive and entertaining folk tales.


July 16 - Balloon Science & Face Painting 1:00pm - 2:00pm

Johanna Rockwell and her daughter are going to put on a fun show of storytelling and making balloon animals while exploring the science behind balloons. The children will take home a balloon animal and will be given the opportunity to have their faces painted.


July 23 - Fizz, Boom, Cartoon 11:30am - 12:30pm*

Educational artist and veteran teacher, Jeff Nicholas will entertain us with his original illustrations, humorous poems and stories while teaching how to create his "inventively fun" characters using simple, draw along methods.


July 30 - Einstein's Megatronic Cosmic Cafe 1:00pm - 2:00pm

We will be serving a mystery lunch as a special treat to celebrate the end of Summer Reading. Diners will enjoy the finest cuisine found in the whole universe. Pre-Registration Required.


Participants are not required to attend all of the scheduled weekly programs. The Summer Reading Program is fundamentally about getting children interested in reading. All children will be eligible for weekly prize drawings. All programs are free.
